As we approach the dark days of Winter and begin plugging the holes in our shambolic old houses with socks. Our minds often turn turn to indoor activities, such as boredom and wanking. This is why me and my chums have decided to produce many audio entertainments for your ears. The first will arrive on the 31st October in the form of a spooky Halloween episode of Brainjam. Then a brand new weekly(ish) podcast will begin called Wilson and Wolfenden in which Andrew Wilson and I chat about interesting subjects. Our first subject will be Science. I’m still waiting for Andrew to find a window in his schedule but as soon as he does we’ll jump through it and talk the bollocks off a hind donkey. Poor hind donkey. 🙁
Then comes December and two Christmas specials. On the 20th December you will be able to download the Brainjam special, an adaptation of the Christmasy Sherlock Holmes adventure The Blue Carbuncle. Following that on the 23rd, grab a mince pie and some mauled wine and join us for The Gentleman’s Review Christmas special. We were supposed to do one last year but our slightly over ambitious version of A Christmas Barrels put pay to that. It was my fault really. I did insist that we kept in nearly all of Dickens dialogue which is very difficult on the old gob. You can listen to the out-takes below.
So there you have it. Lots of lovely entertainments.
Now I’d like to plug a few things not made by us.
First get your ears round the Vitriola Music podcast which features Michael Legge and Robin Ince bickering about new and old music. Then have a good look at the Standard Issue magazine, which contains writing from the brilliant Liz Buckley and Margaret Cabourn-Smith, before popping over to Amazon (or all good book shops) to buy a copy of You’re Grand: The Irish Woman’s Guide to Life by Tara Flynn.
We spoil you, we really do.
Here is a Vine. I done it.
