“Don’t get me started,” I said to a friend today who mentioned the US Senate and their funny ways.
Now this isn’t a political blog so I wont rant on too much about it but *belm* the US Government have two choices, either buy up all the debt or be plunged into a 1930s style great depression. Hmm what do they do? They dither and doodle and fuck all is done. This of course is knackering our economy and we are powerless to do anything about it.
However we could learn a lesson from this and ally ourselves far more with Europe, who have been relatively unscathed by the whole thing. We’ll call the Americans and tell them that we can’t see them anymore “it’s not me it’s you” the Prime Minister will whisper down the phone into George W Bush’s ear. “Yes you can keep the Beckhams but we want Hugh Laurie and all that spilled tea back.”
Then we will sit outside cafés drinking tea and laughing at the buffoonery of our former colony.
Anyway still reeling from the council tax news of yesterday (I’ve done my sums and I can pay it, so wont be visiting some prisons to have bummings done to me by big men) I needed cheering up. Now usually this is an impossible thing to do, once I’m down then I’m out of jollity for hours and nothing can creep through my steely exterior into my tear sodden soul. However that all changed when I watched ‘Roary the Racing Car’ for which I had set my box to record earlier in the day. The reason I recorded it was because my chum is an animator on the series and it seems the decent thing to watch it. So I pressed start on the box, my heart laden with anger at the council. Then something strange happened. I laughed and then I laughed some more before – you guessed it – I laughed loads more. It was brilliant, charming and altogether the ticket. Tomorrow night I shall be watching Fifi and The Flowertots. Why don’t you set your boxes to record “Roary the Racing Car” and turn a crap day into a good one.
